Goalkeeper Rene Higuita was an inspirational, eccentric, and pioneering player. He is considered one of Colombia's greatest goalkeepers, but he's best known for just one thing: his scorpion kick. This spectacular kick was staged at Wembley Stadium in a 1995 friendly between England and Colombia. Higuita received a cross from England midfielder Jamie Redknapp. Instead of catching the ball, he swung his legs forward and kicked it away with his heel. However, the truth was that Rene Higuita had seen the offside flag. The linesman raised his flag, but none of the attacking players advanced. He later admitted that he wouldn't have attempted the move if it hadn't been offside. Had he made the mistake during the match, we would remember "The Madman" in a completely different light.
